We are an established dedicated motor cruising school specialising in individually tailored personal tuition. Unlike many other motor cruising schools we own our own training vessel, a luxurious 50 ft Hardy, and all tuition is carried out personally. On all our courses, including shorebased courses, students are strictly limited to a maximum of two to ensure the highest standards of personal tuition. Students on theory courses at our premises in Verwood, Dorset are welcome to stay at our guest house Mercator Lodge. There are no hidden extras on any of our courses and we are always available to offer help and advice to potential students. When comparing our fees with those of other schools please bear in mind that if two students book together on the same course we offer a discount of 50% to the second student. This makes our fees very competitive and you still get the benefit of personal tuition. We offer the full range of RYA motor cruising training courses including:

PRACTICAL COURSES

A maximum of two students are accommodated in private en-suite cabins on board our luxurious 50 ft motor yacht. Our fees are fully inclusive and include breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner. You certainly will not need to bring a sleeping bag with you as we provide comfortable berths with cotton sheets and duvets together with fluffy towels. Couples are very welcome on board and if your partner does not wish to take part in the training but just wants to come along for the experience we shall ensure that they are made most welcome.

We know that many students prefer to take the RYA practical courses on their own boats as they find that they learn more quickly this way. We are therefore only too pleased to provide own boat tuition provided that the vessel is suitable. These courses can be individually tailored to clients needs.

THEORY COURSES

At Mercator Maritime we specialise in offering individual personalised tuition for all RYA Shorebased courses. The courses, which are limited to a maximum of two students take place at our premises in Verwood, Dorset or we can come to your home. The training can either take place over five days (normally Monday to Friday), three weekends or can be individually tailored to your personal needs. To help in the learning process we have a Raymarine Plotter/Radar in our classroom which we will use for practical demonstrations of effective electronic navigation.

VHF TRAINING

We are an accredited training and assessment centre for the Certificate of Competence in Radiotelephony GMDSS Short Range Certificate (SRC). We use the very latest Icom VHF units which enable our students to practice using real VHF sets rather than computer simulators. We specialise in private tuition which can be in your own home or on our premises.

ASSISTED DELIVERIES

If you are thinking of making your first channel crossing and would like the reassurance of an experienced skipper on board why not give us a call. You will find our rates very competitive and we are always prepared to help with advice and guidance on equipping your boat. We also undertake deliveries anywhere in Europe.
